Last Exile -Travelers from the Hourglass- Chapter 2

Surprise! We promised you the next Last Exile chapter in two weeks and we have delivered!

Reading this, we are reminded of just how great the characters were in the original Last Exile anime series. The characters in the new series, Fam, The Silver Wing, have so far not lived up to those we grew to love in the original. We hope the new series continues to improve, but it will be hard to follow a series which set the bar so high.

Also, seeing as how the new anime series and this manga series are running simultaneously, there was bound to be some overlap. The title page of chapter 3, which came out last week, makes a reference to the anime. And seeing as how our tentative plans aren’t to release chapter 3 until two weeks from now, I thought I should at least share that page with everybody, so here it is:

And of course, a translation of the important part:
Al: “Hey, Lavie! They say I’m going to be in Fam, The Silver Wing!”
Lavie: “Tatiana and Alis will too. They’re so lucky… As for me…”

With that said, we hope you enjoy chapter 2 and we’ll do our best to have chapter 3 ready for you two weeks from now.

  1. Thanks for the new chapter. I’m also one of the fans who has been disappointed so far with Fam. The new characters certainly pale in comparison with the old cast. In fact, I’m fast finding Dio the sole reason I keep on watching these past few episodes. At least this manga series can soothe my craving for more Claus and Lavie, if we are to take the chapter 3 title page at face value to infer that we won’t probably see them in the anime.

    • I actually like Fam, but I think having Dio does make it that much better. And seeing Tatiana and Alister was awesome. I keep hoping Clause shows up commanding a Exile with Lavi as his Vice Captain.

Anyway, great job on the release, hope they keep coming.

      • I’m enjoying Fam as well, but I’m just not totally sold on it. MusouMitai can attest to the fact that I’m constantly bitching about its lack of a strong male lead. The male:female main character ratio is about 1:10, and it’s definitely noticeable that there are practically no dudes in the show. As far as Claus and Lavie, Gonzo has not said anything at all, one way or another, about their inclusion… Of course, if I were Gonzo, that’s exactly what I would do if I were planning to include them, so it would be the biggest surprise possible.

  2. Thanks.

  3. Thanks SO much! Can’t wait for the next chapter! I want to know who the mysterious Guildie is!

  4. Thank you so much for doing this project. I’m big fan of Last Exile, so I was happy for the beginning of Fam. I really like it so far, and as the others, I would be glad to see Claus and Lavie in that series.

As for the Hourglass manga, I found it accidentally, and that’s a vig luck for me. It’s very interesting so far, and I’m curious to see what will happen in the following chapters.

    Keep up the good work.

  5. Eeeh, why, Lavie, why~ I wanted to see Claus and Lavie in the new anime, too. But I guess it’s enough to see them again in the manga :) thank you for scanlating this and I’m eagerly waiting for the next chapter!
I, actually, like the characters in Fam so far and I hope it’ll all get better. Luscinia is cool and badass, that’s what I thought since episode 1, Tatiana is too, and her interactions with Alis and how Alis was talking to Gisey about careless pilots was fun, too. Fam is really likable imo, Claus and Lavie were more interesting for their past and dream, but she’s just the kind of character you’d like. Millia is growing on me, too. c:
