Bakuman Manga Ends

Hey everybody. I just felt the urge to make a post about this.

The Bakuman manga has officially ended, with the final chapter being released in Jump this Monday in Japan. Our partners over at Red Hawk have released the final chapter with a farewell message here. If you can spare a few minutes, you should give it a read.

This ending kind of snuck up on everybody and while most people are sad to see such an amazing manga end, I think those same people are glad that Ohba-sensei and Obata-sensei were able to do it justice by ending it the way it was meant to end instead of dragging it on and on like so many other great series.

Although I myself very rarely did any work on the Bakuman project, ObsidianTK and I have a special fondness for this manga. Red Hawk did come to me at one point asking if I would be willing to do the translations, but I just didn’t have the time needed every week for such a massive amount of text. If it weren’t for the manga, however, there obviously would not have ever been a Bakuman anime. And it is that very anime which got the two of us here at Mangawari started on the course to where we are now. We began fansubbing the first season starting with episode 15 after GG dropped it. When it ended, we began scanlating Silver Spoon and, after receiving an invitation to team up with Red Hawk on the series, things have just sort of snowballed and here we are, almost a year and a half later, working on all sorts of different projects. We both owe a lot to this series.

So thank you, Bakuman. And thank you Red Hawk for all the effort you’ve put in every week on this great series. We’re going to miss you.

Concerning Bakuman Season 2

Although we started out here at Mezawari working on the first season of Bakuman, at this time we have no plans to sub season 2. Musou_Mitai and have I discussed it, and we agreed that it is too huge an investment of time — the half of season 1 we did last time was pretty all-consuming for a two man group, and we don’t believe we could juggle it with our manga projects and still provide quality releases in a timely manner.

At the moment, what we’re most concerned about is bringing you high-quality releases of Silver Spoon and Gunota Girl. Both of these are projects that no one else will be working on if we stop them, and they’re very important to us. Unless the quality of the subs of Bakuman season 2 are really bad (as in Guess Subs tier), it’s very unlikely that we’ll risk detracting from the quality of our main projects to compete with other subbing groups on an anime.

Those of you who’ve asked about it, we’re delighted to hear that you liked us well enough to want us back, and we’re sorry to disappoint you. However, we hope you’ll continue to enjoy our Silver Spoon and Gunota Girl releases as well as any future project we decide to undertake!

Bakuman 18v3 Patch for 18v2 from Batch Torrent

This patch is for fixing the giant fuckup MusouMitai made with the batch torrent — apparently he muxed episode 18 with the wrong .ass file.  To clarify, you only need this if you have the version of episode 18 from the batch torrent released a couple days ago.

To apply the xdelta patch, you will need this. Unzip the contents and make sure ‘xdelta.exe’, ‘xdeltaUI.exe’ and episode 18v2 from the batch torrent are in the same folder. Run ‘xdeltaUI.exe’ and you will see a dialog box. Select the patch, the source file, and enter a name for the output file and click ‘Patch’. Don’t forget to type ‘.mkv’ at the end! That should do it.

Sorry for the trouble. MusouMitai can be an idiot sometimes…

Bakuman – 15-25 Batch

Hey all you Bakuman fans! Our batch file is finally available!

Here are some of the changes I made:
-All episodes now use the most recent font size/position.
-Chapters added for all episodes.
-Translations fixed and/or tweaked in many places
-Azuki’s anime OP/ED songs were released in the real world, so the translations have been fixed.
-Hard subs in earlier releases were redone as soft subs.

Some of you asked if were we going to go back and do episodes 13 and 14 to ‘fill the gap,’ but I just don’t have the time/motivation to do translations and timing for episodes that are so far in the past. I apologize to all the anal retentive people out there (my editor can tell you that I’m one of the worst!) who like to have complete series all under one fansub group. [SubDesu] and [TMD_A-Destiny] both have solid versions, so if you need to fill the gap, grab one of those.

Keep an eye on the blog for future news. Thanks for making the last 3 months so great!

Bakuman – 23

Finally!  After a week’s break for some really tragic circumstances, Bakuman is back on the air, and we’re here to sub it!

Due to a some feedback we received recently, font is a little higher and a little bigger this week.  It is extremely unlikely that we will change it again, and the end of season batch torrent will have all episodes with this style.

PS: All of you who posted in the previous comment about Musou_Mitai subbing during a 6.1 aftershock, thank you so much!  You guys are what makes it worth it to spend ridiculous amounts of time on this every week :D .

PPS: Musou_Mitai is tired of straining his ears to hear people talking over music, and his TV card doesn’t work with Japanese TV and an American version of Windows, so if anybody is interested in supplying us with a raw that has CC, toss us an email.

Bakuman 23 Airing Now

Phew.  Musou_Mitai is watching now, translation is in progress and this week’s episode should be out with our usual efficiency, provided Musou_Mitai doesn’t lose time to one of those annoying scheduled blackouts that have been going on in Tokyo since the earthquake.

UPDATE: They just had a 6.1 in Ibaraki, NE of Tokyo.  Musou_Mitai, the dedicated motherfucker he is, worked right through the stuff rattling around his apartment.

Bakuman 23 Air Time Changed to… Sometime.

Official word from NHK is that Bakuman 23 has been delayed (obviously), and that they will announce the new air time on their blag at some point in the future.  We’ll keep you up to date.

Bakuman – 22

You win, Bakuman!  Stop it with the songs!

Took us longer than usual this week because Musou_Mitai is lazy and unmotivated, but that’s nothing new.  Also, he wastes time on things like “talking to girls” and “sleeping” when he ought to be translating!

For the blah blah blah,
